Carl Sagan testified on the Greenhouse Effect before Al Gore's Senate Environment & Public Works Committee on 10Dec1985, "What is essential to this problem is global consciousness."
Dean Abrahamson, seated behind Sagan, said that "vigorous" work would have to start immediately to have any hope of limiting warming to 5ºC.

(CO2 was 345 ppm in 1985. Now it is 430 ppm and 5ºC + is locked in.)
